Estrés y enfermedad de Graves / Stress and Grave´s disease

El cúmulo de datos históricos, observacionales y epidemiológicos que establecen una posible relación de EG con el estrés psicosocial ha originado, en las últimas décadas, un creciente interés de los investigadores por establecer una base etiopatogénica del estrés en esta enfermedad. En la presente revisión se analizan, a la luz de los conocimientos actuales, las complejas interacciones entre el estrés y los sistemas nervioso central, inmunitario y endocrino que, al incidir en individuos genéticamente susceptibles, propiciarían la aparición de EG. Diversos estudios epidemiológicos y algunos trabajos clínicos retrospectivos recientes apoyan la influencia de las distintas formas de estrés emocional tanto en la aparición como en la evolución de la EG. Por último, el control del estrés mediante intervención psicoterapéutica o psicofarmacológica, añadido al tratamiento convencional de EG con fármacos antitiroideos, podría mejorar los actualmente modestos índices de curación de EG

A lot of observational and epidemiologic data, that establish a possible relationship between Grave´s disease and psychosocial stress have been causing, in the last decades, an increasing interest of the investigators to establish an aetiopathogenetic basis of the stress in this disease. At the present review, we analyse, in the light of the actual knowledge, the complicated interactions between stress and the central nervous, immune and endocrine systems, which when affect to genetically susceptible individuals may propitiate the development of Grave´s disease. Several epidemiologic studies and some recent retrospective clinical surveys support the influence of the different maners of emotional stress both onset and evolution of Grave´s disease. Finally, control of the stress through psychotherapeutical or psychopharmacological interventions added to conventional treatment of Grave´s disease with antithyroid drugs could improve the actually modest ratio of outcomes in Grave´s disease

The present report reviews the problem of depression in children by means of an interview made by a pediatric to two paidopsychiatrists: concept, incidence, etiology and clinic, emphasizing un those features of interest and related to the pediatric and based on a bibliographic revision and the own experience of the authors, referring fifty cases of recent study. It is also showed the main exploratory and diagnosis methods: psychological, clinical and biological, as the evolution, treatment and some aspects of suicide in children.
